Royal romance in crisis as Chelsy Davy tells Prince Harry she pines for home

Prince Harry's relationship with Chelsy Davy is said to be in tatters, after she announced that she wants to return to Africa and her family. The Zimbabwean-born blonde moved to England two years ago to try and strengthen her six-year relationship with the prince. But despite forming friendships here at university and being accepted by a prestigious City law firm to pursue a career as a trainee solicitor, Chelsy, 24, has told Harry she just misses home too much.
Heading in different directions: Chelsy Davy announced that she would like to return to Africa and her family
Senior royal sources told the repoter last night that the couple, who holidayed in Zambia earlier this month, were still 'very much an item'. 'They categorically have not split up,' said one. But friends said Chelsy's decision has brought matters to a head. 'Although they have always largely conducted their romance a continent apart, both of them were relatively carefree students - this time round they are at very different stages of their lives and careers,' said one.
On African soil: Prince Harry visiting a child education centre in Lesotho while Chelsy Davy enjoys the races at Ascot Harry, 25, who is holidaying in Africa for a few days after completing a joint tour of the region with his elder brother, Prince William, is about to embark on a gruelling course with the Army Air Corps to become an Apache helicopter pilot.
His timetable will offer him little opportunity to jet off to Africa to keep his relationship alive.
But Chelsy wants to start a new life with her parents, Charles and Beverly, and brother Shaun in Zambia. The family moved there last year from Zimbabwe due to the worsening political and economic situation

A friend said: 'Chelsy has given it her best shot trying to create a new life in London.
Her father even bought her a £2million flat in Chelsea as a base. But at the end of the day her heart is in Africa.
'Chelsy loves Hazza very much but she has never wanted to be a princess. She has everything she needs in Africa - her family and her friends and now a new career.
'The only thing Harry can give her is himself. Whether that is enough, only time will tell.
'Truthfully, the only way I can see this relationship working in the long term is for Harry to give up his royal life in England and move to Africa permanently. But it is unlikely that he will ever be allowed.'

Ironically, that is just what Harry would like to do. Last week during a trip to Lesotho, where his charity Sentebale is based, Harry was asked about his future ambitions. The prince wrote: 'Professional surfer, wildlife photographer, helicopter pilot and live in Africa!'
For the time being, however, his future remains in the Army, with the promise of a return to the front line in Afghanistan in as little as 18 months. Meanwhile, his brother has told friends that he is 'kicking himself' for predicting he would get married this year. During a ski holiday ago five years ago William, who turns 28 today, admitted that he didn't want to get married until he was '28 or even 30'. Now he is said to have told friends: 'I was young, I'd had a few drinks . . . what can I say? I wish I had kept my big mouth shut!'
Sources say the prince is 'deeply committed' to Kate Middleton, who he has been dating for almost eight years, but is determined to concentrate on his career as an RAF search and rescue pilot for the foreseeable future.
Yesterday on Sunday Katie Nicholl revealed Middleton has been busy preparing to move in with Prince William's at his home in North Wales, where he is training to be a helicopter pilot - sparking rumours that  the couple may soon announce wedding plans
