Newfound, untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, worth $1 Trillion, might reshape the country. The natural-resources jackpot was discovered by a Pentagon study, and it could fundamentally change Afghan's economy as well as the war itself. The enormous deposits are full of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and metals like lithium. This might lead to Afghanistan becoming a mining capital of the world. "There is stunning potential here," says Gen. David H. Petraeus, commander of the United States Central Command.
